Diego Davazt: just keep doing this and be better every time I do photos.

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?

My passion starts 10 years ago, but my first steps into fashion photography were 7-8 years ago, and that mixed with some of my movie preferences in horror made me this way.

Has your vision and style evolved or changed over time?

Yes, in the first two years I have no idea of what I was doing haha, but with the years I start to plan better the shoots and tried to make some concepts and use references from movies, music, and things like that, of course, some of my personal experiences influence in my work.

How has photography influenced you as a person and what do you love most about being a photographer?

I can say photography helps me to express mysalef, I never was good at drawing or a musician, but with the photo, I can make my ideas come true, too help me to socialize and deal with some of my social issues.

What inspires you and what gives you ideas to create your beautiful images? Can your ideas change depending on the model you are working with?

The movies, principally horror, erotic and psychedelic films hahaha, some songs, some paints, some feelings, as I say, I always have social issues and I try to express it in my work.

I try to do first the mood board and then chose a model to don´t change the idea so much, but I am always open to improvisation.

From your point of view, what makes the shoot successful?

The crew and the communication make magic, I really love the crew with I create this photoshoot.

In addition to being sharp and well-lit, your photos are beautifully edited. What is your retouching/production philosophy?

Thanks a lot :), I try to keep the skin as natural as possible, but working with the color grading to create the atmosphere and keep the compositing low, I prefer to do it in production than in post.

Do you plan each photo out or are they created more organically?

I plan the main shoots with a mood board and sketches, but once in the shoot, I like to play and improvise.

If you couldn't be a photographer, what would be your other career choice?

Working in a vineyard hahaha

What is one last impression you want to leave in your photographs?

Something human, I always want to evocate some feel.

What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future?

My first published editorial and know my actual MAUH, I really love to work and create with her.

About my dreams, just keep doing this and be better every time I do photos.
