A brighter kind of armour
A brighter kind of armour is a beauty editorial photographed by Rowan Freeman for MALVIE Magazine, with model Aurora Vizor.
I wanted to explore vulnerability in this shoot. The metallic fire blanket becomes a kind of armour, shining just as brightly as she does. In some images, she hides beneath it, shielding herself from the outside world. In others, the armour seems to burst away from her, suggesting a moment of release—as though she no longer needs it to feel safe in her own strength.
About A brighter kind of armour
In A brighter kind of armour, Aurora Vizor is framed by crumpled sheets of reflective silver that catch the low sun and throw it back across her skin. Close-ups place her face inside the folds of the metal, while on the shore the silver opens up behind her like a sail above a white column dress.
Rowan Freeman moves between golden-hour warmth and cooler sky blues, from tight beauty portraits with a structured neutral bag and a dark faux-fur layer to wide frames at the water's edge, where the silver sweeps across the rocks and the reflections on the wet sand.
