About Beauty in dahlias

Beauty in dahlias keeps the frame close and fills it with flowers. Kristýna Blažková lies among masses of purple and magenta dahlias, only her face showing through the petals: fresh, natural skin, blue-grey eyes, a soft fringe and a faint smile. In some frames the dahlias meet the deep green of curly kale, the two colours wrapping around her face like a wreath.

Kristýna Fečková then lets the green take over, with kale leaves and a broad leaf half covering the face, so that only one eye or a smile is left in view. Two portraits in black and white turn the petals and leaves into pure texture, a quiet, intimate series about a face at rest in the garden.
