Italy we know has its thousand merits, like its imprint on Fashion. Precise details, clean cuts. The Florentine Brand, Giorgia Maya Firenze, wants to push on the firmness of a bold but elegant woman. The beautiful Made in Italy craftsmanship handed down to proud women.
When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?
My passion for Fashion was born from an innate need to express my essence, and the essence of beauty that for me a woman or a man should have. The first step is the birth of my daughter Giorgia Maya who is now 4 years old, from there was born with her a desire to emerge and leave a trace and a path for her too. I started to create new ideas on clothing and then I decided to found the brand Giorgia Maya Firenze.
What kind of impact do you hope to make in the fashion world?
I hope the World recognizes the quality in my creations and the fact that a woman, any woman, or man, can feel free to and bold. I believe a lot in my work and I would like to share it not only in Europe, but now also in America, but I would like to expand my horizons also in Russia or Asia. I would like to unite all of us to feel closer and share the high Made in Italy
Looking back at so many years of incredible work, how do you feel the line has changed or evolved?
I think today I realized what my weaknesses or strengths are. I have invested in creations that could not have a future; with my efforts alone I have created a team of young women who dedicate their hearts and heads to my brand.
Today Giorgia Maya Firenze is going in the direction I wanted it to go. I do not compromise, I use high quality fabrics and leathers, state of the art machinery, Italian accessories and all the work is done in our company. You pay for quality but it stays over time.
Are there particular issues within the fashion industry that concern you?
Yes in my opinion, many times the consumer, being "immature" of how a coat or a dress or a pair of pants is really created and sewn, is led towards a false product; what I mean is that there are few people who really understand that the REAL Made in Italy can be more expensive but uses high quality products and local labor. And my bet is to make everyone understand that a low cost, low quality product can never BE compared to a high quality product.
Another problem is to introduce new brands that may have products of the same quality as the known brands but that are making their way and invariably come up against luxury brands already in the industry for years and years.
But I am optimistic.
How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?
Today I'm more mature so I'm also able to make better decisions in both marketing and business decisions. Experience shapes you.
How would you describe your work to someone who has never seen it? Is there any message you would like your photos to convey?
Dare, love, live. This has always been my motto. Do not be afraid, love everything around you, realize your dreams and then live!
What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten and do you follow it?
When I was afraid of failure or of failing in my work, a friend told me: "A lion, even if in a cage, is still a lion". And that's when I realized that standing still in fear would not take me forward and create a future for my Brand.
What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future?
The best moment was when I started seeing my product in American Boutiques.
My dreams and hopes that the brand can grow further
