Ildiko Sopronfalvi: I wanted to give up several times but I cannot live without photography. Without endurance and some obsession you cannot archieve it.

Tell us about the development process that culminated in the artist you are today.

I began with landscape photography 5 years ago but people were missing from my photos. I met a lot of models, makeup artists, singers, and stylists in the photography school where I studied photo design. I began to organize photo shooting and to work with people in the team. From my main job I have learned organizing because I am a project manager in the building industry. As a photographer, you should know how to lead the team how to handle people and sometimes you have to play psychology as well. It is very important how to speak to the model because it looks immediately in the photo.

What made you get into photography?

My main job is civil engineering and I always missed creativity in my job. In the way of looking for creativity, I began to study photography at the Academy Deutsche Pop in Stuttgart, in Germany 4 years ago. It was love at first sight, I wanted to learn everything about photography. I make photos from passion and love.

How hard has it been establishing yourself in the industry and what are some of the largest things you've faced?

There are a lot of photographers nowadays, that's why is very important to be special and to create new things and different photos than the others. I have a special style that's why I could go ahead step by step. The largest thing was for me to have my own photo exhibition on the topic of environmental fashion last year and the cover story in Inspades Magazine in 2017.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten and do you follow it?

Follow your dreams and believe in yourself.

How do you prepare your new shootings?

I first prepare my concept/idea for the photo shooting and I make a mood board. I select the model, it is very important that the model like the concept and wants to do it. I like to work together with different fashion designers they prepare clothes and jewelry for the shootings, I define the color, styling, textures, background, location, etc. Normally it takes 3-4 weeks to organize a fashion photo shooting and I have to find out every little detail.

What would you say is your style of photography?

I like to play with colours, textures, mood. My style is to show emotions but with playing fashion tools. I like to make portraits, to show human, fine art like a style.

If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say?

You should follow your dreams. If photography is your dream job you should never give up and always go ahead, it is a hard job. I wanted to give up several times but I cannot live without photography. Without endurance and some obsession you cannot archieve it.

How would you describe yourself at work in so many years of career?

I have always lot of ideas and concept in my head. I like projects they give more or they have something to say. I am maximalist, hardworking, have endurance and never give up. At photoshooting I prepare all details before we start and I go ahead according the concept. I finish the shooting only if I have the picture!

What are your goals for the near future and do you have any exciting projects you want to share with us?

My first goal is to make photography for my main job. I have several projects in my head, but I prepare the next collection for my next photo exhibition in topic different cultures. I would like to show how amazing are different cultures and traditions but to show them in the world of fashion.
