Your work explores fashion as a form of self-expression. What do you believe clothing can communicate about a person before they say a word?

I believe clothing can reveal a person’s character before they say a word. It can communicate confidence, individuality and even the way someone sees the world. For me, fashion is a language of self-expression — a way to be seen without having to explain who you are.

You begin each collection with an emotion or an idea. Can you walk us through that first stage, before any sketch exists, and describe how an emotion starts to take a visible form?

For me, it always starts with an idea or a feeling that I want to express visually. I look for the right forms, proportions, colours and details that can translate that feeling into something tangible. I am interested in the moment when an abstract idea becomes a visual language and eventually turns into a garment.

You speak about building complete creative worlds rather than only garments. What does a finished world contain for you beyond the clothes themselves?

For me, fashion exists in dialogue with everything around it. The location, architecture, light, colour and energy of a place can completely change the way an image or a garment is perceived. This is especially important to me in Dubai, where the scale and visual energy of the city become part of the story.

Designers often talk about a signature. If someone saw one of your pieces without a label, what would tell them it came from you?

I think it would be the way the piece makes a woman feel: confident, visible and completely herself. I want my designs to have a strong character, but never to overshadow the woman wearing them. For me, a recognizable signature is not only about a particular silhouette or detail, but about an attitude.

What is one idea you keep returning to across collections, something you have not finished saying yet?

I keep returning to the idea of individuality. I believe a woman should never feel that she has to become someone else in order to be noticed. I am interested in creating fashion that gives her the freedom to be visible, confident and true to herself. I think this is an idea I will continue exploring in different forms.

Where do you want Genetics by Marsi to be in five years, and what would you like people to feel when they encounter the brand for the first time?

I want Genetics by Marsi to continue growing internationally while preserving its distinctive identity and creative freedom. I want people to feel curiosity when they first encounter the brand — to see something that catches their attention and makes them want to look closer. For me, the strongest connection begins when fashion creates an emotion.
