Laura, your work is known for balancing technique with emotional depth. What guides your artistic approach when capturing the essence of a person?

My artistic approach is always guided by a balance between technique and humanity. For me, photographing someone is not just about portraying their image, but understanding who they are and what energy they bring. Sensitivity leads the way: observing, listening, and creating a space where the person can express themselves freely. When I connect emotionally with the model, technique naturally follows. It’s their inner essence that I truly aim to capture.

When working with emerging talent like Jaime, how do you create an atmosphere that encourages confidence, vulnerabilåity, and self-expression?

When working with emerging talent like Jaime, creating a safe and calm environment is essential. I like to walk them through each step, giving them space to explore without pressure. When they feel there is no judgment—only collaboration—confidence, vulnerability, and self-expression begin to flow naturally. That sense of freedom is where the magic happens.

This session highlights a very natural connection between you and the model. What drew you to Jaime’s story, and what inspired the visual direction of the shoot?

What drew me to Jaime’s story was his process of reinvention. He came from a difficult period, yet carried an incredible inner strength. His desire to find his place in the world of imagery, combined with his authenticity, inspired me to design a visual direction that felt clean, honest, and deeply human. I wanted the images to reflect rebirth, identity, and that blend of fragility and determination he naturally carries.

What part of this collaboration challenged or inspired you creatively, and in what way has it influenced your vision moving forward?

What inspired me most about this collaboration was witnessing Jaime’s emotional transformation throughout the session. Seeing him shift from fear to confidence reminded me why I love my work. It reaffirmed my intention to pursue sessions that not only create beautiful visuals, but also meaningful experiences for the people I photograph.
