About Metamorphosis

Shot in full summer light, Metamorphosis follows Guiomar Alfaro Pablos through a formal garden, from the edge of a fountain to the foot of a pale-barked tree and across stepping stones laid over a pond. Each look changes her outline: feathered rust layers, cascading strips of beige fabric, a beaded bodice over an ivory ball skirt, gold chainmail under a yellow cardigan, orange brocade with blue fringe and, finally, sculptural cream ruffles.

Gala Regnault plays with what is hidden and what is revealed: a red blindfold, a jewelled gold mask, mirrored visor sunglasses. Styled by Iván Aguilera Barón, with makeup and hair by Lucía Moreno, the wardrobe brings together IT Spain, ALEXANDRINO, Sara Santiago Design, WEILI ZHENG and DKNY, with shoes by Steve Madden and Karl Lagerfeld and eyewear by Galfer Eyewear.

I love how this editorial uses the garden setting and changing silhouettes to create a sense of transformation, with each look bringing its own personality. It also reminded me of a recent feature I saw on England & Derbyshire Solicitors about how personal style and individual choices can reflect who we are.
