About Rouge Étude

Rouge Étude is a study in a single colour. Nita Bon Air wears a towering silver heart-shaped headdress crowned with red feathers, a sequinned red corset bodysuit, long red gloves and a ruby necklace, with a sweep of red tulle that falls to the floor. Against a plain white studio wall she spreads her arms, lunges wide and swings the tulle like a flag, her red lips and winged make-up framed by the feathers.


Chris Yeo then takes the costume into a bare loft with wooden beams, white pillars and a black metal staircase. Sunlight falls through a tall window as she reclines in a pool of tulle; a long red carpet runs the length of the room as she stands in a feathered red cape, drops into the splits and kneels laughing beside a red fire extinguisher. Playful and theatrical, the series keeps every frame on the same bold red.
