When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?

Around 2013 or 2014 when I study a basic photography course part of my journalism college career here in Perú. That’s the point and the moment when I realize that I really enjoy capturing the moment through a camera. Then I focusing more on portrait and documentary, kind of press kind of concert as well. In June 2017 I had the opportunity to shoot my first Fashion Editorial (one month later published on Yoko Magazine) and I understand that this is what I want to do the near years of my career, this milestone mark my work and career as well.

What role does social media play in your photography business?

Honestly I am not very active on social media yet! But it really help me to first, looking for inspiration and aesthetic, and second to talk with potencial collaborations with another artists, models and new brands to work.

What is the secret for an image to become unforgettable?

Be passionate for your work and concept. Never stop learning every day. And repeat if the first or second try don’t satisfied you.

How important is it to be knowledgeable about beauty and the latest trends to be successful as a beauty photographer?

Very important but its more a team work about looking for the latest trends. Makeup artists, hair stylist even the retoucher are part of the creative process. The kind of light that I want to use, the model acting and the camera angles are things that I try to worry about it during the photoshoot.

What's the most important thing you want potential clients to know about you?

More than a photographer im a human being, a person with feelings and opinions that can add to your work to get a great results. Also that its a team work, I don’t get great things alone, its all about the communication with both parts, me and my team work and the client and his brand (in case we talk about commercial work)

How do you manage to make your models feel comfortable in front of the camera?

first we talk about the concept, the acting that we want and I want, and then to flow free as she knows, then when I know what thing she can give to the camera I add more acting, different poses that I already know she can make. The key is not directing her from the beginning of the photoshoot.

You are going about conducting a photoshoot, could you take us through the typical planning process for your images?

Of course, first its having an idea of what story you want to communicate through the pictures. This process for me its the hardest part! It can be a joint work with the art director or stylist to get a good moodboard. In this case the idea start with the retoucher, Renzo told me the initial idea and then we work as well with the Stylist. After that, select makeup artist and hair to know if they can join the project and finally the model depending of the availability. Now in situ, the day of the photoshoot with all the concept and moodboard finito the workflow its more easy. Finally the selection of the best pictures, color grade and retouching. Thats all folks.

Do you have any practical advice to give the photographers who are trying to master retouching and shooting for their own business?

About shooting, just shoot shoot shoot and practice with a purpose. Read a lot and watch youtube tutorials if something technical is not clear. Obviously if you can study in academy or college that’s better! About retouching, well I don’t retouch like high end to feel free to advice something, but if you like that way of work, practice more and learn to read the image! The good retouching for me start with a good read of the image and have criterion to select what to retouch and what not to retouch.

If you couldn't be a photographer, what would be your other career choice?

Maybe continue my career as investigative journalist or maybe history teacher. As a kid I want to be archaeologist lol!

What are your goals/plans for the future? Is there somebody you are fascinated about and you'd like to work with in the future?

The goal is work outside of my country maybe USA, maybe Europe! But the time will tell. Not in particular but I would love to collaborate and work with more massive magazines and luxury brands in commercials campaigns. That would be incredible for me.

Where can we see more of your works and get connected with you?

My website its under construction and my instagram is @sebascorzoa. I don’t usually upload so much work but I promise that I will do it!
