SLAVIC TROPHY WIFE
SLAVIC TROPHY WIFE is a fashion editorial photographed by Kseniya Kunitskaya for MALVIE Magazine, with model Irina Ruskina.
An Icon of Post-Soviet Glamour
An ironic exploration of post-Soviet pop culture and the extravagant aesthetics of the early 2010s.
Oversized fur coats, platinum wigs, unapologetic femininity and questionable luxury — a visual universe where glamour was excessive, beauty was theatrical and subtlety was never the point.
Somewhere between a pop-culture fantasy and a self-appointed icon, she plays with the familiar image of the trophy wife, turning it into an exaggerated performance of femininity, status and spectacle.
Provocative, self-aware and gloriously kitsch.
Because being understated was never part of the plan.
About SLAVIC TROPHY WIFE
SLAVIC TROPHY WIFE plays out on a white bed with a carved dark wood frame. Irina Ruskina wears a platinum bob wig with a fringe, an oversized striped brown fur coat that slips off her shoulders, a black lace bodysuit and fishnet stockings, her nails painted black and her lips glossy.
Kseniya Kunitskaya uses a direct, bright flash that flattens the white sheets and makes the fur glow, from close portraits with a heavy-lidded gaze to wide frames of the model sprawled across the bed or perched on the footboard, with one black and white frame that leans fully into the early-2010s excess the story celebrates.
