The handmaid's tale

Being a woman in a world where bodies and relationships are scripted is the core theme of Margaret Atwood’s novel. Through this project, we sought to emphasize the reification of the female body. A silenced woman, suggested by the makeup that extends unnaturally over her lips. Sexualized, as highlighted by the plunging funnel shape forming the upper part of the dress. But above all, used beyond what she feels or experiences — a reality conveyed through the dominant use of a deep, blood-red hue. We aimed to create a powerful, universal symbol, because this is not about an isolated case, nor a solitary struggle.
