About Crimson Tides

Crimson Tides is set on a rocky coastline of honey-coloured sandstone, with waves breaking white behind. Kate Phan, her long dark hair loose, wears a red bikini with a floral sarong in red, orange and yellow, leaning against the eroded rock face, standing in the foam of an incoming wave and reclining on a sandstone ledge above the beach.


Lorenzo Earl adds one unexpected prop: a clear acrylic chair set on the flat rocks at the edge of the sea. She sits on it, kneels on it with the sarong lifted in the wind and leans on its back to look out over the water. Warm sun, blue sky and the red of the swimsuit make it a bright, confident summer story.
