Form & Presence
Form & Presence is a fashion editorial photographed by De Sugumar with model Vénus Sabourin, published in the printed edition MALVIE Fashion Across Cultures 135. In the photographer's words: "Form & Presence explores the balance between restraint and bold self-expression. Through sculptural silhouettes, deliberate movement, and subtle contrasts in light and texture, the series finds strength in simplicity. Each frame offers a different expression of confidence, where elegance is effortless and presence speaks for itself."
From the printed edition: MALVIE Fashion Across Cultures 135
Form & Presence is one of the editorials in MALVIE Fashion Across Cultures 135, the new printed edition of MALVIE Magazine, alongside Above and Below the Surface, URBAN BOTANICA, Elizaveta Ruzmaykina and The Space between Shadows.
The printed edition will be available to order from our print partners MagCloud, Peecho and DPBee.
About Form & Presence
Form & Presence is shot in the studio against a warm grey backdrop. Vénus Sabourin, her hair pulled into a neat bun, wears a sheer black top with wide, floating sleeves over a short skirt and black platform sandals, then a zebra-print blazer dress with a pale green and yellow scarf, and a simple black top with dark flared jeans. She stretches out a sleeve, lifts an arm over her head, plants her hands on her hips and crouches low in the blazer dress.
De Sugumar then switches to black and white for a series of close, seated portraits in a strapless black top: a hand at her cheek, her chin resting on her fingers in profile, eyes closed with an arm folded across her body. Clean lines, soft light and a calm, direct gaze carry the series.
