Like it or not, winter is now here and all of the hot summer and spring trends tend to go to the back of our drawers to give space to matte lips and colder tones – that being applied to lipstick choices, contour tones and even nail art. But there’s no need to worry, even if you’re a big fan of summer trends: what’s coming is kind of very siilar to something we are used to see, but might be even better. If you’re a regular on the internet, specially on TikTok, I could bet that you’re familiar to the ‘sunburn blush’ makeup look, right? Our topic of discussion here is the wintery cousin of the beloved trend, named the ‘I’m Cold’ makeup look, a glowy and blush-heavy style that is set to put you right on track to get along with the icy weather.

The new TikTok trend started as a way to evoke that cozy holiday movie energy we all love and make every girl feel like a business woman who falls in love with a farmer in a trip back to her hometown. And to achieve the look, there are some crucial points to factor in: matte skin, strategically applied blush, and a soft matte lip. All of thses combined should make it look like you’re just back from taking a little walk through the city streets – and that’s exactly what we’re going for! The point is to make it easy to get the look at home, so there are’nt many secrets now. Start with the righr base and choose you favourite matte foundation, skin tint or/and concealer and focus on neutralizing any rednedd – we don’t want it to compete with all the blush that will be used here. We want to avoid the glistening anf dewy effect, so lean into powders and flat finishes – if you have dry skin, don’t forget to really prep it before you start! The under eyes should be lightly illuminated with concealrer and the whole face should be set with powder – and now we’re ready to the biggest deal of the look: blush.

If you’re really following the original “I’m Cold” makeup TikTok, you should know that two distinct blushes are layered and blended together, one being more pinky and the other in a peachy tone. The reason why the beauty influencers on TokTok choose to do it is because it’s a great way to warm up the face without the need for bronzer – something that’s too summery for the weather. Also, placement is key here. The blush should go along the apples of your cheeks, all the way up to the under eye area, and also on the center of the lips, the cupid’s bow, the tip and bridge of the nose – just be careful and don’t connect it to the cheeks. Then tie it all together with just one more touch of matte powder on top of everything.

You can also use the same color on your eyelids to get that monochrome chic. End it with some matte lipstick in warmer tones and you’re done!

As we’re talking about makeup, of course there are a million ways to put some personality of your own into the look, like choosing different blush tones or going for more glossy lips rather than the original matte ones. And if you want to get the most natural possible icy girl look, maybe try to actually go into the cold weather for a bit and see which shades naturally pop into your skin. That way you can look like you’ve just woken up while looking fresh and just as cold as you want to – even if your town is not freezing now.
