VERTEBRA ORE// Mutation as Fortitude

VERTEBRA ORE// Mutation as Fortitude is a conceptual portrait editorial photographed by Vito Di Leva for MALVIE Magazine, with model Victoria Vicidomini, art direction by Maria De Luca, fashion by Miriam Sodano, makeup by Nadia Anzalone, hair by Nico Carnevale and accessories by Chainsaint.

Under environmental pressure, the body does not break. It mutates. VERTEBRA ORE explores the transformation of human fragility into an impenetrable form of protection. Set within a dystopian future, the body responds to environmental hostility and trauma through a spontaneous process of mineralization. Metal emerges from within, piercing the skin and crystallizing into studs, spikes, and skeletal structures. Neither infection nor decay, this metamorphosis is an instinctive act of self preservation a radical expression of human resilience. The body becomes its own armor, revealing an internal architecture where the boundaries between organic matter, fetishism, and machinery dissolve. Extreme geometries and metallic protrusions are no longer external embellishments, but manifestations of a deeper biological response: the flesh turning into a shield. VERTEBRA ORE envisions a new corporeality , brutal, defensive, and unsettling where survival is no longer about remaining untouched, but about transforming vulnerability into strength.

About VERTEBRA ORE

VERTEBRA ORE is washed in a cold, cyanotype blue. Victoria Vicidomini crouches and folds into herself on a bare floor, a line of metal spikes rising along her spine, her sharp black fringe and long straight hair framing a direct, guarded gaze.

Vito Di Leva moves from full-body silhouettes to close portraits and back, ending on a figure wrapped in black leather with studs, buckles and a heavy studded belt, as the accessories by Chainsaint turn the body into armour.
