Absurd Inspiration, Retro Theater is a fine art fashion editorial photographed by Pengjiaxi for MALVIE Magazine, with model Gaby, art direction by Rui Ling, lighting design by Hezhiwu, styling by Maisy and makeup and hair by Lan Ming.


A quiet rebellion against the ordinary. This series unfolds within a vintage sanctuary of unscripted thoughts and shadowed light, where everyday logic gently slips away.


About Absurd Inspiration

Absurd Inspiration, Retro Theater is staged like a small play in two sets: walls papered in faded blue roses, and a violet room with a tapestry sofa. The model lounges, crouches and reaches across the floor among teacups, a plate of toast and jam, a red patent handbag and a scattered bouquet, as if each frame were a scene caught between lines.


The styling layers schoolgirl references with vintage glamour: Peter Pan collars, cardigans and pleated skirts, a velvet drop-waist dress with white socks, red polka-dot tights, green opera gloves, a plaid mini and a cropped satin bolero, finished with red hairbands, statement earrings and soft, voluminous waves.
