About Hammock Hideaway

Hammock Hideaway turns a leafy backyard into a retro holiday camp. Julie Harrington, her platinum hair set in rollers or worn loose, moves between a wooden shed, a white and turquoise vintage trailer and a garden full of ferns, plastic flamingos, garden gnomes, bunting and inflatables. The styling is pin-up Americana: a white tank top with red shorts and red platform heels, a leopard coat over a red swimsuit, a zigzag-print swimsuit, and a stars-and-stripes bikini top worn with a cowboy hat and boots.

Kristia Knowles plays it with humour and bright daylight. A brown dog leaps at the spray of a garden hose while the model sits in a striped lawn chair, cigarette in hand; later she reclines in an orange wheelbarrow, sunbathes beside a flamingo float with a yellow cooler and stands in a paddling pool with an inflatable banana, one arm in the air. Saturated greens, reds and pinks give the series the feel of a sunny, slightly surreal getaway.
