About Sharp-Edged Rock Fragments
Sharp-Edged Rock Fragments is set on a bare stretch of grey gravel under a pale sky, closed in by a green wire fence, with a single electricity pylon on the horizon. Da Jun wears a long brown leather coat trimmed in curly shearling, a crumpled beige scarf, a black lace bustier, dark jeans with a red patterned belt and tinted rimless glasses, with a soft canvas bag over one shoulder.
Wang Shiwu shoots in hard, bright light and lets the wind do the styling, throwing long brown hair across the face and the lens. The poses are loose and physical: gripping the fence, leaning back upside down against it with both arms raised, crouching with a shearling cuff at the mouth, then tight close-ups through the tinted lenses. The mood is raw, restless and full of movement.
