About Threads of Identity
Threads of Identity presents three looks in rich jewel tones. A long purple coat worked with a dense, embellished pattern and a matching jewelled cap poses on a marble staircase with gilded iron railings and red runners. An emerald sequinned jacket with satin trousers and a beaded bag follows on the same white stairs and on a red velvet chair, then a jade green beaded top and flowing skirt with a long scarf.
Outside, the series turns to stone facades and a wrought-iron gate covered in gold leaf scrollwork. A royal blue skirt swirls wide below a beaded bustier fringed with drops, a jewelled headpiece catches the light, and the jade scarf flies out in the wind against pale stone. Shankar Narayanan keeps the light bright and warm, so the embroidery and the gilded backdrops answer each other frame by frame.
