About Baroque Dreams

Baroque Dreams is staged in a room that looks like an old painting: walls of peeling, mottled paint in gold and green, a wooden ladder, dried flowers in tall vases and an antique clock. Lilly Potter and Marie wear full ball gowns with boned corsets, one in ivory with ruffled tulle and a lilac underskirt, trimmed with black feathers at the shoulders, the other in pewter satin with sheer puffed sleeves and a dotted skirt.

Their hair is set in towering, sculpted updos, with chokers, long gloves and painted fans. David Woolley poses them alone and together, one seated while the other stands behind her, leaning shoulder to shoulder, one hiding behind a fan, in warm, low light that gives the skin a porcelain glow. Romantic and theatrical, it is a costume drama in still frames.
