About Not Made to Fit In, Made to Stand Out

The series is shot on a clean white studio backdrop, which leaves everything to colour and attitude. Neferttiti Stewart, who styled the look and did her own makeup and hair, wears a pale yellow sequinned mini dress with a scalloped sequin hem, a pearl choker, turquoise bracelets and chunky white platform heels, her honey-blonde afro full and round. Yellow and green eyeshadow and dark lips pick up the shine of the dress.

Dwayne Hill keeps her in motion in the full-length frames: deep crouches, a wide stance with a hand on the hip, a leg kicked back as if mid-dance. In the second half sunflowers appear tucked into her hair and the camera moves closer, catching hands behind the head, a sideways glance and a playful pout. The result is bright, upbeat and full of personality.
