About The Unspoken Dress Code
The Unspoken Dress Code works with a few familiar pieces against a cool grey studio backdrop. Katia wears an oversized black blazer with the sleeves pushed up, a black scoop-neck top, faded grey jeans and pointed black shoes, with a black silk scarf tied over her cropped blonde hair, dark sunglasses, red lips and a black leather bag on a chunky silver chain. Fine chain necklaces and bracelets are the only extra details.
Matin Mortazavi and lighting designer Ahmad Shalbaf keep the light even and clean, so the black reads crisp against the grey. The poses are cool and unhurried: a hand in a pocket, the bag swung over a shoulder, the blazer held open, a low angle that makes the silhouette look strong. In two frames the sunglasses go up onto her hair and the scarf slips back, revealing a direct, quiet gaze.
